In six years, WRJ Design in Jackson, Wyoming, has grown from a three-person company in 2010 to 14 employees with two showrooms. The firm’s growth, according to CEO Rush Jenkins and COO Klaus Baer, is the result of providing clients with cutting-edge design and such exclusive product lines as Loro Piana and Poltrona Frau, available in Jackson only at WRJ. To best educate employees on these lines, Jenkins and Baer decided to take them to the source, the Salone del Mobile.Milano. The annual furniture fair held in Milan, Italy, is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world, where many of WRJ’s exclusive lines showcase new products. To take advantage of the educational opportunities and chance to experience new products firsthand, WRJ is bringing employees to attend the 2016 show April 12 – 15.
“We want to introduce our staff to the vendors we buy from, to visit their warehouses and showrooms in an environment where they can ask questions and learn more about what we do,” says Jenkins. “We’ve set up meetings for them with representatives from our Italian lines Loro Piana and Poltrona Frau – plus the show itself is an amazing opportunity to see what’s new from all over the world.”
The Salone del Mobile.Milano combines three events dedicated to the concepts of living, classic furnishing and architectural finishings. An international benchmark event for the furnishing and design sectors, this year’s exhibition provides a global platform for more than 2,000 exhibitors showcasing products and services with an emphasis on design trends and innovation, and attracts 310,000 visitors from more than 165 countries.
“Much of what we learned at the show in 2015 is seen in our clients’ homes today,” says Baer. “Not only do we find new products and ideas but also inspiration to take what we see and bring it back to our designs.”
