California Contemporary
Atherton, CA

Our challenge for this 15,000 square-foot, newly constructed residence in Northern California was to create a sense of intimacy for a growing family of four. To honor the architect’s vision and showcase the homeowner’s art collection, which includes Australian Aboriginal works and paintings by Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall, we selected a neutral palette, curated clean-lined tailored furniture, and introduced soft draperies to filter the abundant sunlight flooding these gracious living spaces.

In this home, our client’s art collection was the foundation for the interiors, inspiring a beautiful symphony of art and form.

California airiness begins at the entry and permeates the entire home.

All the design choices from lighting to consoles were made to enhance the art throughout the residence.
